Word of the Week: Hope

Hope. A feeling that everything is going to be okay, that things can get better. It's found inside a person, but is fulfilled through others, a lot of times. It's an optimistic view, if even for a short time. I love hope. Hope gives purpose, makes the good times better, makes the hard ones a little easier to endure.

Sometimes, our world can seem dismal and dark, not worth the time or effort we are putting in. It seems pointless and pitiful. Our world seems gray and lonely. But with hope, it turns around. We see things in a new light and learn to appreciate the good things we do have. We learn to look for the good and relish in it.

I think a part of hope is believing. It's believing that what we do has a purpose, though we may not see it. Hope is believing that there is good in the world, that things won't always be the way they are now. It's trusting that the Lord will always beckon us and stand by us, His glorious arms outstretched.

I love this picture. The way I see it, this lady has been living in a life that is gray. But she is is beginning to have a glimmer of hope. She has hope that things will be better. She believes in herself. That's why her reflection is in color, because she is looking for the good and believes that her world won't always be so dark and dim.

Alma 22:16 But Aaron said unto him: If thou desirest this thing, if thou wilt bow down before God, yea, if thou wilt repent of all thy sins, and will bow down before God, and call on his name in faith, believing that ye shall receive, then shalt thou receive the hope which thou desirest.

Never lose hope. Believe in the things you know, and it may surprise you how bright your world will get.

  1. "Hope is believing that there is good in the world, that things won't always be the way they are now." This very idea has gotten me through so much. I love you Court!
